MP visits Yr 6

8th January 2016
The Member of Parliament for South Bristol, Karin Smyth, took time out of her busy schedule today to visit Hillcrest and answer questions from Yr 6.  The children, fresh from yesterday's workshop about parliamentary democracy and campaigning for political change, had some really thoughtful and wide ranging questions.  Lots were about her role as an MP and what it's like to work in Parliament.  Other questions included the situation in Syria and the threat of terrorism here, fracking and whether you need to go to university to become an MP.  There was one particularly incisive question about what political changes Karin has personally had a hand in!
