Yr6 take on the Deki Tenner challenge

11th November 2013

As part of their topic work on charity, Yr6 are taking part in the Deki Tenner Tournament this month. Deki Tenner is a Bristol-based charity that, each November, encourages schools and businesses to take £10 and turn it into profit.  The money raised is used to provide small loans and training to entrepreneurs in Malawi, Togo, Nepal and South Sudan so that they can start their businesses and gradually work their way out of poverty.  You can find out all about it by clicking here: http://www.deki.org.uk/tenner

Yr6 plan to raise money by running a Tuck Shop in their classrooms on Tuesday 26th, Wednesday 27th and Thursday 28th November.  They are also hoping to run a Cake Sale after school on Friday 29th November. More details nearer the time.

The money they raise will help to change lives in the developing world - a really worthwhile cause - and learning about how this charity works shows the children how even a small amount of money can make a big difference.
