No Outsiders - Everyone Different, Everyone Equal
Miss Norman addressed the Yr 6 children this morning, following a deeply disappointing incident on Friday. She would like to share with you what she said to them. We know that Hillcrest families will work with us to reinforce our No Outsiders message and our three school rules - Be Safe, Be Kind, Be Respectful - both in and out of school. Click here to download her talk.
All aboard for Fish Finger Thursday! Our funding for Universal Free School Meals is based on a snapshot on School Census day - this Thursday. It would be a great help to have as many children as possible taking a school meal that day, even if they don’t normally. We are switching Thursday and Friday’s menus so the ever-popular fish fingers and chips (or Quorn Dippers and chips for the veggies) will be served on Thursday this week. Friday’s lunch will be Chicken Tikka Masala.
Test & Trace Support Payments - £500 grants are now available for eligible workers who have to isolate. Click here for information about grants for people in receipt of benefits or on a low income.
Reception Forest School - Children in Endeavour in both Puffin and Parrot classes will be doing Forest School on Mondays 24th May, 14th June and 21st June. We will need three parent helpers per session, from 1.10pm. Please talk to your child’s teacher if you would like to help.
Yr 1 volunteers needed on Monday 24th May - As part of our enquiry, 'Where is my School?' Yr 1 will be doing a survey of the shops and facilities on our local high street (Wells Road). We will need seven volunteers to help us on the day from 1.15 - 2.15. If you are interested in helping, please let one of the Yr 1 teachers know ASAP. Many thanks, The Yr 1 team.

Can you help? We are looking for a group of parents to support a range of art and craft activities for Yr 6 on Friday 25th June. We are hoping to organise a day of all sorts of making. We would welcome any skills, ideas or materials that you have to contribute. Ideally, we would like to set up different stalls around the big and small halls for the children to move around, having a go at anything from embroidery to embossing, badge making to block printing, pottery to pompoms - anything at all that you can think of that we could offer to 60 children!
We have a small budget, so would really appreciate some help contacting businesses who may be able to offer discounts or donations in the run-up to the event. Please contact Jet’s mum, Helen email@example.com or Lara’s mum Leyla firstname.lastname@example.org if you are able to:
- help send emails asking for donations and/or discounts
- provide materials yourself
- volunteer your skills and time on 25th June to run an activity
- volunteer your time on 25th June to support a making activity that someone else is running
We want to make this a really fun, celebratory event for the Yr 6s who have had to miss out on many of the highlights that round off primary school, and we really appreciate your help!
Threadworms - There are cases in Yrs 1 and 3 at the moment but they’re very easily spread so parents of all year groups should know what to look out for. They’re simple to get rid of - just one over the-counter tablet does the trick. Please note that if there’s one case in a family everyone in the household should take the treatment, whether they have symptoms or not. https://www.nhs.uk/conditions/threadworms/
