Mailbag 4 February 2022
Dear Parents and Carers
Thank you all for your support for NSPCC Number Day - it was great to see the children with their numbers painted on faces, number boards hung around necks and numbers stuck on school jumpers.
Thank you for all your generous donations to the NSPCC via our JustGiving page: https://www.justgiving.com/fundraising/hillcrestprimary
The money raised supports their Speak Out Stay Safe programme to help children understand what to do if they're scared or worried.
I also wanted to mention children’s personal possessions this week. We have noticed recently that some children, with or without their parents’ permission, have been bringing in things which should be left at home, such as iWatches and Fit Bits. Please can we ask you to make sure they are kept at home? The new iWatches have a video function and last week staff had to spend precious time getting to the bottom of ‘iWatch-gate’!
If any of these items slip through the net because, after all, children through the ages have found ingenious ways of smuggling items into school, staff will keep hold of them until they can be returned to you.
Many thanks for your support and have a lovely weekend.
News for Everyone
Well done to all the Hillcrest children who took part in the 24 hour relay swimathon at Jubilee pool last weekend. Read all about it here. And please fill in the Friends of Jubilee Pool’s important survey here (whether you’re a pool user or not) to help them write a business plan to take the pool into community ownership.
Well done too to Mouhamadou in Yr 6 who went the extra mile today. He decided to bake cakes to bring in and sell to his classmates to raise more money for the NSPCC on Number Day.
Football - Check out the latest Hillcrest Harriers match news here. Great photo!
COVID isolation - We’ve updated the COVID 19 page on our website here with a clear guide about how long to isolate if you test positive.
Disco Volunteers - A year group Disco is a fun event which the kids really enjoy. All we need is 3 or 4 parent volunteers from each year to make it happen! Friends of Hillcrest and previous organisers will be on hand to advise about what is involved, and will organise the DJ. If you could help make this fun event happen for your class please email Friends at mailto:email@example.com
Watch found - A Fit Bit type watch was picked up outside the main gate yesterday morning before school. It’s in the office.
Congratulations to this week’s Celebration Award winners. You can see their photo here.
