Basketball Tournament

18th July 2019

The first annual Hillcrest House Hoops Hoopla basketball tournament took place last Thursday.

There were some amazing basketball skills on show from competitors across all houses.

After six end-to-end games in front of the whole school,  the group finished with Endeavour on top and Discovery in fourth.

Victory and Adventure had to play a shootout to get into the final as they had finished on equal points. A tense shootout saw Victory's Gus shoot Victory into the final with his victorious basket.

A hardfought final between Endeavour and Victory was a wonderful spectacle with Victory winning out in the end.

The Hillcrest Pom Poms - the school's cheerleaders - stole the show, twice performing a wonderful routine to the delight of the crowd. A big thank you must go to their coach Ms Sharples.

Commentator Heath (5EN) did a sterling job calling the action with some wonderful turns of phrases like 'speedster by name, speedster by nature'.

The day finished with a Parents v Teachers game, again commentated by Heath. A spirited and competitive game saw the parents win by four points despite the best efforts of the teachers. A special mention must go to Mrs Loader and Miss North who put in a wonderful effort trying to keep the parents at bay.

Thank you to Mr Mac for organising such a brilliant afternoon!
