Free School Meals & Pupil Premium

If you are eligible and register for free school meals the school benefits from £1,300 Pupil Premium funding to support your child's education.

Hillcrest also gives children on Pupil Premium one free after school enrichment club per term and 50% reduction on the cost of all school trips (this is reviewed each academic year).

Children in Reception and Yrs 1 & 2 are entitled to a free school meal every day regardless of your household income.

However, the government gives the school an additional £1,300 funding for every child, in either key stage, who have parents in receipt of any of the benefits listed below. 

  • Income Support
  • Income-based Jobseekers Allowance
  • Income-related Employment and Support Allowance
  • Support from NASS (National Asylum Support Service) under part 6 of the Immigration and Asylum Act 1999
  • the guarantee element of State Pension Credit
  • Child Tax Credit (with no Working Tax Credit) with an annual income of no more than £16,190
  • Working Tax Credit run-on
  • Universal Credit.

Pupil Premium is extra money paid direct to schools for each child who is eligible for free school meals.  It is used to support your child's education.
