Language of the Month

9th May 2019
ARABIC

Arabic is the sixth most widely spoken language in the world, with the largest numbers of speakers living in Algeria, Chad, Egypt, Libya, Morocco, Somalia, Sudan, Tanzania, Tunisia, Bahrain, Iraq, Jordan, Kuwait, Lebanon, Oman, Qatar, Saudi Arabia, Syria, the United Arab Emirates and Yemen.

There are about 256,000,000 people in the world who can speak Arabic, including some of our Hillcrest pupils.

Two of Hillcrest's Arabic speakers have taught the children to count to 5.

This month's challenge is to learn to count to 10 in Arabic (Golden Ticket for those who do this).

Additionally, anyone who can find out interesting facts about Arabic-speaking cultures (e.g. food, traditions, clothes etc.) and present them to Miss Wilson, will get a golden ticket (they have a month).
