Start & finish times - As we’re all into the swing of things now and the children are entering and leaving school really quickly and efficiently, we will be able to shorten the time between the two bubbles. When we come back after half term the new times will be 8.45 - 3.20 and 8.55 - 3.30.
This will mean five minutes less spent waiting around if you have children in different year groups. On wet mornings we will do our very best to get the children in as quickly as possible.
School Shoes - A reminder from Miss Norman that black shoes are part of our school uniform for everyone. Trainers are fine, as long as they are all black.
Buying uniform - My Clothing have changed their supplier. Their uniform items now only come in ages 3 - 4, 5 - 6, 7 - 8, 9 - 10, 11 - 12. They no longer stock the in-between sizes, even though these still appear on their drop down size menu. Also, the blue of the embroidered polo shirts they’re supplying at the moment is several shades darker than usual. We have flagged this up and they are trying to source a better colour match. In the meantime, you can get plain ones in our usual pale blue from most of the big supermarkets.
Our Business Manager will be looking at uniform suppliers next term, as we do every couple of years, to see if there is a competitive alternative.
Yrs 3 - 6 School Meals - Don’t forget that the cost of a school meal is going up to £2.25 from Monday 2nd November, when we come back to school.
Enrichment Timetable - There are a couple of changes to the timetable. Download the updated programme here. The additions are:
- Matt and Louis from Fast Forward are now offering two Girls’ Futsal sessions on Fridays (they have dropped Tennis which only had one booking) to meet demand.
- Christine is offering Let’s Pretend Drama on line on Wednesdays - Under 8’s 4:30pm - 5:10pm, Over 8’s - 6:30pm - 7:10pm.
Pre-loved Uniform Collection and Sale
Friends of Hillcrest plan to start a collection of pre-loved uniform on the first Friday of each term. Items will be left to quarantine for three days before being organised into boxes in size order and then made available for sale in the Key Stage 2 playground after school on the following Friday. So for next term COLLECTION will be FRIDAY 6th November and the SALE will be FRIDAY 13th November. We will send a reminder the day before the collection date. As ever, all proceeds go to Friends of Hillcrest Fundraising.
Friends of Hillcrest Halloween / Harvest competition
If you'd like to take part in our Halloween / Harvest competition don't forget to email your name/year group and address to firstname.lastname@example.org by Weds 28th October please!
Prizes will be awarded for:
- Best Halloween/ Harvest front garden
- Best Halloween/ Harvest front window
- Best creative pumpkin
Entry is absolutely FREE - Remember to tell us whether you are entering your front garden, front window or pumpkin (or all three)!
All entries will be photographed on the afternoon of Sat 31st of Oct and the winners will be announced during the first week back after half term.
