Term 6 already!  We hope everyone has had a good break and a chance to enjoy the sunshine, and that the families who celebrated Eid at the start of the holiday had a wonderful day, despite the lock down. It was probably one you’ll always remember!

Hillcrest Three Parks Challenge - Our sponsored walk has raised an astonishing £1,121 so far! Thank you to all the children, siblings and families who have done the walk and for all your brilliant fundraising efforts. If you would still like to do the walk you can find the map here

Friends are still receiving donations. Outstanding sponsorship money can be paid in here: https://paypal.me/pools/c/8p1l0jdTBl Please put your child’s NAME & CLASS in the comments section.

All those who have raised £10 or over have earned themselves a colourful Three Parks Challenge wristband. These can be collected from Wednesday 3rd June (tomorrow) at Hillcrest reception OR from Felicity at 22 Calcott Road.

If anyone is unable to collect their wristband due to shielding please email friendsofhillcrestfundraising@gmail.com and we can deliver one to you!

If you have any photos of your family on the walk that you'd like to share please send them to Juliet for the Lockdown Social page. jfleming@hillcrest.bristol.sch.uk

Daily Tasks will continue to be posted for the children who aren’t in school and the weekly Zoom check-ins will resume from Monday 8th June. Here’s the Zoom timetable:

If your child is being looked after in school because you are a key worker, the staff working with them will do their best to ensure your child takes part in their class Zoom meeting but this won’t always be possible.

School iPads - If borrowing one of these would make home learning easier in your household, please contact your child’s teacher and ask for one. If you’re working from home yourself, or have more than one child needing time on the computer, we know it can be difficult. We don’t want you to be printing out the tasks and spending a fortune on printer cartridges, or children trying to work from phones.

Stationery - If there’s anything your child needs for their learning don’t forget that you can pop in to school and pick it up. Just give the office a ring first so we can have it ready for you at reception.

The Book Barn is open between 8.00am and 3.00pm if you’d like to call in to change reading books. Please drop returned books in the Quarantine Box by the gate.

The Department of Art has posted two new challenges for this week that you might like to try, here.

Summer Exhibition - Our on line art exhibition is looking fabulous! Check it out under Lockdown Social. There are pages for 2D, 3D and Digital art. We’ll be accepting submissions all term and children can send in as many artworks as they like. Email to jfleming@hillcrest.bristol.sch.uk

Calling Yr 2 and Yr 3 kids who play Xbox - Eli in year 2 would love to play with you. He plays Minecraft/Lego Jurassic World on Xbox, three times a week. He has headphones and a microphone and he’s love to be able to play and chat with other Hillcrest kids via Xbox Live. If you are interested contact his mum, Hannah Latham, on 07780 651075.

Remember Joseph Tingay's sponsored bike ride? Well... the poor lad fell ill, with a high temperature, a day or two into the challenge and the whole family had to go into quarantine for a fortnight, just in case. As soon as he was allowed out again, Joseph, showing true resilience started his ride from scratch again.

He completed the full 26 miles over 5 days, riding round and round the block. He did his last few laps with the whole street cheering him on!

He has raised £506 for NHS Together!  WELL DONE JOSEPH!

And thank you to everyone who sponsored him.

Look out for your next Mailbag on Friday.
