Miss Norman has been laid low by a nasty bug this week and was very sorry to miss the Reception & Yr 1 Bedtime Story Evening - a lovely event, as always (there are a couple of videos here). Thank you to Friends for organising it. Miss Norman is hoping to be back in school next week.

Our Language of the Month for February is Urdu. We have lots of Urdu speakers at Hillcrest. Find out about this month’s Golden Ticket Challenge on the website here.

GB Athlete visit and Sponsored Fitness Circuit - What an inspiring visit from Paralympian Jack Rutter today. Thanks to Sports for Schools. And what a high-energy workout... the children have certainly earned their sponsor money! Read about our exciting day and watch a video here. You can sponsor your child on line at www.sportsforschools.org or use the sponsorship form sent home recently. Please hand sponsorship forms and money in to the school office, in a sealed envelope, by Friday 7th February. Thank you for your support.

Yr 6 parents - If you haven’t already done so, please can you pay for next week’s Bristol bus tour on Gateway?  So far, we haven’t had have enough payments in to cover the cost. The trip links with this term’s Transatlantic Slave Trade enquiry and it would be a shame if we had to cancel. Click here to download the letter about the trip. Thank you.

Yr 6 Clothing & Book Sale - The children are holding a second hand sale after school on Thursday 13th February and need your help! Please could you donate any clean clothes and books, in good condition? They would welcome items suitable for younger children as well as school-aged children. We don’t have anywhere to store stock in school so please hold on to your bags for now and bring them into school on Wednesday 12th or Thursday 13th February. Thank you.

Second hand uniform will be on sale at next week’s Parents’ Evenings in the ‘waiting room’ - 2KL’s classroom. Please help yourself and put a donation in the honesty box.

Spare clothes for the medical room - Thank you so much to everyone who has responded to our appeals for spare pants, trousers, socks, tights etc. We have lots now and the cupboard is full to bursting!  If you have any outgrown clothes to donate, Yr 6 would love them for their fundraising sale.

Spread the Happiness Appeal - We’re still collecting food to be made up into food parcels to support families in south Bristol likely to suffer holiday hunger over half term. Click here to check what each year group are collecting.

Yr 2 SS Great Britain Trip on 11th February - The deadline for ordering a free packed lunch is the end of the day next Wednesday - drop us an email or pop to the office to let us know you want one. If we don’t hear from you we will assume you’re providing a packed lunch from home. We still need a couple more parent helpers on the trip. Speak to the teacher or let the office know if you would like to come along.
