Dear Parents

As you know, the government have asked primary schools to welcome back children in Reception, Year 1 and Year 6, alongside priority groups, from Monday June 1st. This has always been about whether this is safe to do so, for staff, children and our wider school community. Following an extensive review of our plans and in consultation with the local authority, staff and governors, I can confirm the following arrangements:-

Reception children will now return to Hillcrest on Monday June 15th.

Until then, the Reception team will continue to deliver the Home Learning Tasks.

Year 6 will also be returning on Monday June 15th.

Until then, the Year 6 team will continue to deliver Home Learning Tasks.

Year 1 children will return on Monday June 1st.

Mr McIntyre has emailed two letters today (29th May) - one to the Yr 1 children, and one to their parents - about coming back.

Following the government guidelines, the groups of children will stay with their allocated member of staff all term. They will not be rotated between teaching staff.

All the other arrangements for returning to school that we sent to parents before half term will remain the same (just pushed back by two weeks for Reception and Year 6).

You can see some photos below of the way the classrooms will be laid out, and the entrances that Yr 1 children will be using.

Priority Groups - We will continue to support our vulnerable children and those children whose parents are key workers. In the anticipation of more key workers requiring a school placement, we are asking that you make this request by emailing the school office at



Will you still run breakfast and after school club?

Not for the year groups attending school. The government guidelines emphasise the importance of reducing contact between people. Children should only mix in a small, consistent group and each small group should be kept separate from other groups. So we can maintain this, Breakfast and After School childcare will only be for children in the priority group whose year groups are NOT in school. Children attending Breakfast and After School clubs will be in groups of 15, or fewer, and the same adult will work each group all term.


Will Zoom check ins continue?

Yes, these will begin again from Monday 8th June. A timetable will be available from next week.


If my child is in school do they need a PE kit?

Yes please provide this for your child.


Does my child have to wear school uniform?

No, they may wear their own clothes if they wish.
