Reception Daily Tasks Week Beginning 18 May
Friday 22nd May
Tomorrow is a celebration for Muslims. It is called Eid al-Fitr and it comes at the end of a month of fasting. Families get together to eat and pray at a mosque. There are lots of similarities between this celebration and ones such as Christmas, as well as some differences. After watching the clips can you talk to your family about what you have noticed. Maybe you could have a go at the quiz on CBeebies?
I am sure like me you send your best wishes to all our Muslim families at Hillcrest at this happy time.
Thursday 21st May
This week we have been thinking about toys and games. Today we’re looking at old toys. After watching my video and the clips of different toys can you interview an older member of your family about their favourite toy when they were little.
Questions you could ask:
What was your favourite toy and why?
Who gave it to you?
How does it work?
Can you still buy them today?
Did you know scooters were around in Roman times?
You can also enjoy Mick Inkpen’s story ‘Nothing ‘.
Wednesday 20th May
As part of our exploration of toys we are thinking about games. Can you ask your grown ups what playground games they used to play? When you go out for exercise today perhaps you could play football or catch. Have you tried skipping or hoopla hooping?
After you have joined in with ‘ Head, Shoulders Knees and Toes’ you could try the action song below.
Don’t forget even if, like me, you make a mistake keep on trying! Have fun and I look forward to seeing your pictures on Tapestry.
Tuesday 19th May
Hello Puffins and Parrots,
Today we are continuing our look at toys by making a moving racing car. Maybe you could also create a race track or using other junk modelling make a boat which will float. The clips below show you how to to make various toys as well as exploring a collection of mechanical toys.
Hello Parrots and Puffins,
This week we are exploring toys. There are lots of different kinds of toys such as toys you build with, ones that help your imagination and even ones to cuddle. Can you sort your toys
into different groups? Maybe like Kipper you could count your favourite toys.
