We had a very wet trip to Arnos Vale Cemetery to learn more about life (and death) in Victorian times.
it was so interesting that no-one complained about the weather!

Janine from Arnos Vale gave us a fascinating tour of some of the most interesting graves and told us the stories of the people buried there... including a Victorian chemist who solved a murder! Surprisingly, we learned lots of things about Victorian life... not just Victorian death.  We're very glad to be 21st century children not Victorian ones!
It was popular to put symbols on gravestones because far more people were illiterate in those days. We went looking to see how many we could find.  We spotted some interesting graves.
