Yr 3 Term 3 2017

Here's our Topic Web for Term 3, available to download below.
A great piece of Term 2 Topic homework Caleb's been working on over the Christmas holiday.  It's a diorama showing an imaginary battle between stone age people and Egyptians (including the jackal-headed god, Anubis).  If you open the secret compartment in the pyramid you can see a Pharaoh watching the fight!

Here are some photos of our RSPB workshop at the end of last term.

Our Reading Week text is 'The Twits' by Roald Dahl.  Look at our horrible, life-sized pictures of Mr and Mrs Twit....

We've been writing letters to Mr Twit explaining how he can be nicer to Mrs Twit.  We worked in small groups, using mind maps, to write down ideas to include in our letters.

This term's topic has really caught the children's imagination.  Here are just a few examples of the topic home work that's been brought in already...

We've been making our own 'fossils'...

... and just look at this giant, cardboard ammonite these two boys constructed together!

We're making our own crystals by hanging a thread in a super-saturated salt solution.

A group of children from Yr 3 had the opportunity to enjoy an ICT session at West Town Lane Academy where they investigated ways to programme different artefacts.  They also took on a challenge...programming a computer to make a Lego model move while playing a game!
