Yr 4 2014/15 Term 3

Here's our topic web for Term 3, available to download below.

We've been learning how to use the vertical method to multiply.  Here are three fantastic posters explaining how it works....

And these two composed a really helpful song about how to use it...

Miss Lawrence's Maths class working in groups to solve multiplication, division, addition and subtraction problems.  Great partnerships!

We have been looking at colour, colour wheels and the spectrum.  Here is some beautiful tone work from 4ML, graduating colours from dark to light.

We've been learning the names of animals in French.  What a beautiful, neat piece of work!

We have taken inspiration from Escher and made some wonderful tonal drawings exploring light and reflections... reflective spheres and water droplets on leaves.

This is our text for Reading Week. It's not just a story about a 'monster' - we're thinking about feelings, loneliness, friendship and empathy.

The story also ties in with our project work on electricity and we have something very exciting coming up using electrical circuits!

We've been working on our gymnastic routines with Mr Boon, adding new elements week by week. Some wonderful partnership and innovation on display here!

And here's a headstand that was accidentally left out of a routine!  We didn't want you to miss it.

Out of school achievements!
Footballing medals!

We've been planning...

...and building....

...these amazing Frankenstein's Mansions.  We've used our knowledge about electrical circuits to booby trap every room.  If you dare to venture in just opening the door to a room or tripping a wire might make light come on, buzzers go off, trap doors open.... Scary!

A very impressive piece of electricity project work.  Well done!

Iola was inspired to write this fantastic story at home by our topic 'Let There Be Light'.  Her writing is packed with wonderfully vivid and evocative adjectives and similies.

"In the dark, musty lab of horrors I saw...
One woebegotten creature crying on his own..."

Have a look at these poems about Dr Frankenstein's laboratory:

What a bright idea for Electricity project homework!  Let there be light!

And some more fabulous Electricity project work... this time in video form...
