Here's our Topic Web for Term 2, available to download below.

Here's some of our fantastic space topic homework.

Here is a Scratch programme that Toby wrote (with a little bit of help from his dad).  Click on the link to open it.  If you click the 'See Inside' button at the top right you can see how he programmed it.

One of the girls in Yr 5 was lucky enough to go to a Claymation workshop at Spike Island to make a stop motion movie about space for her homework.

Sharing our No Nonsense Spelling and Times Tables homework. Seeing everyone's different approaches helps us all to get to grips with the tables and those tricky words!

A big well done to the children who brought their homework in in the FIRST week of the fortnight... we can all benefit from your great work for as long as possible.

A Mayan-inspired disc design

Mr Viggers' class were lucky enough to go to The Crumble Rumble at Ashton Court... part of the One Tree Per Child education programme.

They had a Tree Walk around the park and learned lots of interesting things about trees...

... then they split into teams to create their own apple crumble recipes.

The team who made the winning apple crumble were invited back to Ashton Court, along with teams from five other schools, for an inter-schools Crumble Rumble.  Each team re-created their winning crumble recipe and, whilst the crumbles were in the oven, the children helped to plant trees in an orchard, enjoyed a tree trail with Bristol's 'Mr Tree', Richard Bland, a talk from Mark the Ranger about the Ashton Court deer AND watched a deer feed at close quarters... with some very feisty stags!

When they were ready, the crumbles were judged by a panel including Charlie James, Head Chef at The River Cottage Canteen and... guess what?

That means that apple crumble made to the Hillcrest team's recipe will be on sale in the cafes at Ashton Court and Blaise Castle!

AND they've won a trip to Bristol Zoo for their whole class!

There's a great report about the event in Bristol 24/7.

What better way to kick start our Friday of perimeter and area than a little hands on measuring in the playground?
