Medicines in school
Does your child need a medication during the school day?
This section refers to ALL medications - prescribed medicines, over the counter medicines, creams and ointments, cough sweets, sun cream etc.
Short Term
If at all possible, please give your child their medication before and after school (if, for example, they need three doses of an antibiotic in 24 hours).
If your child needs a medication prescribed by the doctor during the school day, please bring it to the school office (not the classroom) in person and fill in an Administration of medication form.
Download here or pick one up from the lobby.
Administration of medication - short term
We have nine members of staff trained to give medications, and medicines are stored securely in the medical room.
We can ONLY give medicine that has been prescribed for your child, in the original container, in date, with the pharmacist's label on.
We will not normally administer over the counter medication. If you would like your child to have a non-prescribed medicine during the school day you are welcome to drop in and give it yourself.
For everyone's safety, please do not send children in with ANY medication in their bag to take themselves, not even cough sweets, sun cream or Vaseline.
Chronic conditions
If your child has a long-term medical condition (e.g. asthma) we will work with you to set up a health care plan.
