Applying for Free School Meals

School meals for all children in Reception and Yrs 1 & 2 are free, regardless of your household income.

However, the government gives the school an additional £1,300 Pupil Premium funding for every child, in either key stage, who qualifies for Free School Meals because their parents/carers are in receipt of any of these benefits:

  • Income Support
  • Income-based Jobseekers Allowance
  • Income-related Employment and Support Allowance
  • Support from NASS (National Asylum Support Service) under part 6 of the Immigration and Asylum Act 1999
  • the guarantee element of State Pension Credit
  • Child Tax Credit (with no Working Tax Credit) with an annual income of no more than £16,190
  • Working Tax Credit run-on
  • Universal Credit.

Pupil Premium money is used for individually targeted support for your child's education.

Hillcrest also gives children on Pupil Premium 20% reduction on the cost of all school trips and visits.

It's easy to find out whether you qualify - click here to go straight to the website where you will get an immediate answer. If you would like help with your application please contact the school office.
