After School Enrichment Clubs
Clubs for the Autumn Season
There's an exciting range of after school activities lined up for the Autumn Season, with skateboarding, textile art and chess added to the mix! Scroll down to see all the flyers.
There's a new way to apply for the enrichment clubs, using an online form instead of booking directly with the providers.
And from September, instead of signing up for clubs termly, there will be a re-fresh three times a year - Autumn, Spring and Summer.
Club places will be allocated for two terms, e.g. the Autumn Season will run from September to Christmas - Terms 1 & 2. Then, in December, you'll have the opportunity to apply for new clubs (or the same ones again) for the Spring Season.
This will give more children a chance to access the range of clubs on offer and broaden their horizons by trying out different activities.
It's likely that your child will...
- get places in the clubs you ask for, and
- be able to stay in the same club/s from season to season (if that's your preference).
For the few clubs that are over-subscribed, we're talking to the providers about putting on extra sessions.
4th July - STOP PRESS - EXTRA PLACES!
We're delighted that ComputerXplorers have just agreed to double up their Wednesday KS2 session to accommodate all the children that want to do it, and Kate is taking on an assistant so she can take twice the number of children in her popular Art clubs!
Where it's not possible to create extra capacity, for the sake of fairness, there will be a draw for places. The children who don't get one for Autumn will get first priority for the Spring Season, if you apply again.
Here's a link to the form to request places:

- There's a box - 'Is there anything else you would like us to take into account?' - on the form where you can let us know if you have a specific need, or a second choice club for a particular day of the week. We will work to accommodate your needs as far as possible.
- By entering an Expression of Interest for a club you are committing to taking up the place if it's offered.
- THE DEADLINE FOR APPLICATIONS IS 9.00am ON MONDAY 7th JULY.
- IF YOUR CHILD GETS A PLACE IN A CLUB, WE WILL CONTACT YOU BY MONDAY 14th JULY.
- If you don't hear by 14th July you will know that your child hasn't got a place for the Autumn Season. Try again for the Spring Season.
How are the places allocated?
For each club, if there are more applicants than places, the children who haven't been in it this term will be entered in a draw for places. We'll draw again, from the children who are in the club this term to fill the remaining spaces.
Will there be waiting lists?
No, but if your child doesn't get a place for Autumn, and you apply for the same club again in December, they will go into the first draw for the Spring Season.
More than one child?
You can apply for up to three children on the form, one at a time. If one of your children's names is drawn for a club and you've asked for a place for another child in the same one, or another club on the same day of the week, they will get one.

Enrichment v Wrap-around childcare
Our enrichment programme and wrap-around childcare provision serve different purposes:
- The enrichment programme aims to give as many children as possible the opportunity to try out a range of activities - broadening their experiences, sparking new interests and supporting their personal development.
- Wrap-around provision (Future Stars and Totterdown Children's Community Workshop) is there to help you manage busy schedules by providing a safe, welcoming space for children at the end of the school day. While there are plenty of games and activities to keep children engaged, the main aim is to offer flexible, reliable childcare to support parents' work and family commitments.
