Volunteering in school

Volunteers are a valued part of Hillcrest Primary School.

We welcome parents and carers, grandparents and members of the wider community into school to support the children's learning. We have an ever-growing team of Reading Volunteers who come in regularly to listen to the children read.

Safeguarding is vital in schools and there are strict procedures we must follow when recruiting volunteers to work with the children (just as we do when recruiting staff):

  • You will need a current Enhanced DBS certificate. If you do not have one already an application can be arranged through the school, at our cost.

  • If you don't have a child at Hillcrest we will require two references, one personal and one from somewhere you have worked, either as an employee or a volunteer.

  • You will be given induction training and must read and understand our Safeguarding and Child Protection procedures before you start.

If you are interested in becoming a volunteer please complete the Volunteer Application Pack and drop it into the office. We will be in touch.
