Junior Park Runs in Victoria and Greville Smyth Parks on Sundays

Take part in the new Greville Smyth Park junior parkrun!

We are excited to announce that Greville Smyth Park junior parkrun launched on Sunday 24 March. It joins the Windmill Hill junior parkrun in Victoria Park where over 2,300 children have taken part in more than 360 events.

Junior parkruns are free, fun and friendly. All children aged 4-14 years are welcome to walk, jog or run two kilometres along a marshalled route within a park at 9am every Sunday morning year round, whatever the weather. It is a run, not a race! Those who wish to get a personal best can, and those who wish to chat to their friends are very welcome too. A tailwalking adult will always be the last person to finish. You can attend any parkrun; how about trying both Greville Smyth and Windmill Hill?

All children and volunteers need to register once online before attending their first parkrun event to be issued with a barcode. If you have already registered for another event, you don’t need to register again. Multiple runners can use the same email address to register and receive their results. There is no charge to take part. Wear anything that you are comfortable to move in.

Each event starts with a briefing and a warm up. At the finish, children collect a finish token which is scanned along with their own barcode (printed or shown on a phone) and their result time is emailed. Completing multiple parkruns gives the opportunity to earn wristbands in recognition of their achievement.

Volunteers are at the heart of parkrun and 15 are needed at each event every week. Many roles only take about 30 minutes. Volunteers are marshals, timekeepers, warm up leaders, barcode scanners, finish funnel managers, and more.

Greville Smyth Park: meet by the playground.

Windmill Hill: meet in Victoria Park by Nutgrove Avenue.
