Wellbeing
Each term, we will spotlight a focused theme, providing valuable tips, strategies, and resources for both pupils and parents. This term, our focus is on managing anxiety, with an emphasis on effective breathing techniques for calming down.
School plays a crucial role in fostering children's wellbeing by supporting their physical, mental, emotional and social needs.
At Hillcrest we have a whole-school approach to wellbeing, promoting activities that support mental health - encouraging connection, being active, learning new skills, giving to others, being mindful and developing resilience.
School Environment - Creating a safe, supportive, and inclusive environment where children feel valued and respected.
Daily Practices - Incorporating mindfulness activities, physical activity breaks, and opportunities for social interaction throughout the day.
Parent and Staff Support - Providing parents and staff with resources and training to support children's wellbeing.
Early Intervention and Support - Identifying and supporting children who may be struggling with their mental health or emotional wellbeing. Children have access to a confidential online WORRY BOX under the 'Children' tab on this website.
Curriculum - Integrating wellbeing into the curriculum through subjects like PSHE (Personal, Social, Health and Economic Education) and mental health lessons.
