Applying for a primary school place

Find out all about primary school admission, and apply on line for a school place, on the Bristol City Council website here:

https://www.bristol.gov.uk/schools-learning-early-years/primary-apply

Admissions Department Tel: 0117 9037694

The Bristol City Council Primary Admissions Department manages the whole admissions process. The Hillcrest office team can advise you who to contact and when but we have no influence over how places are allocated and we do not hold a waiting list in school.

You can see the Department of Education's School Performance Tables HERE.

September 2025 Reception intake

The deadline for applications will be midnight on 15th January 2025.

The offers will be sent out in April.

If your child is not allocated a place at Hillcrest and you would like to know what to do next, the Primary Admissions department at BCC will be able to advise you. Call 0117 9037694 or email school.admissions@bristol.gov.uk

Open Days

Our open days for parents of children due to start in September 2025 were held in September and October.

You can see the open day presentation slides HERE, and find out about the school by exploring the website and watch a short film introducing Hillcrest HERE.

If you missed the open days call the school on 0117 3772440 and leave your contact details. If there is a demand we will arrange a group tour of the school.

In Year Applications

Our current vacancies are displayed on the rolling banner on the home screen.

If you wish to apply for a place at Hillcrest for an older child, or during the school year, call our school office - 0117 3772440 - to find out if there is a vacancy in the year group you are looking for and, if so, arrange a time to look around the school.

Please note, though, that the application process, waiting lists and allocation of places are dealt with by the Bristol City Council Primary Admissions Department.

The number of children at Hillcrest

Our School Governors have set the maximum class size at 30 children, to allow the most flexible and effective use of our refurbished, undersized, Victorian building.

We have two form entry - two classes of 30 children in each year group.
