Swimming to save our pool

For 85 years Jubilee Swimming Pool has been an importand leisure facility for our community. The Friends of Jubilee Pool (volunteers) want to save the pool for future generations by bringing it into community ownership.

That's why, last weekend, this lovely lot put on their swimming costumes and joined in a 24 hour swim relay event to raise money for the campaign.

Hundreds of swimmers, volunteers and cheerleaders joined forces with FoJP to help raise over £27,000 towards the group’s bid to Save Jubilee Pool from closure.

Donations continue to flood in. If you'd like to contribute it's not too late - visit Friends of Jubilee Pool’s fundraising page.

With the goal of the 24 hour fundraising relay to try and swim from Jubilee Pool in Bristol to Buckingham Palace in London, over 200 participants collectively swam a total of 14,216 lengths of Jubilee’s 22m pool, smashing the original target of 10,000 lengths. With a total of 312,752m swum equating to 193 miles, swimmers not only collectively swam to Buckingham Palace but almost swam all the way BACK to Jubilee Pool too!
