  • Amazon Fundraising

    Fri 29 Jan 2021
If you are buying something from Amazon, please consider using this link: https://smile.amazon.co.uk/ch/1076381-0 and buying the item through Amazon Smile instead.

Amazon Smile has the same products as normal Amazon, but 0.5% of the price of eligible purchases will come to the Friends of Hillcrest charity.

As always, all funds are used to support the education and enrich the experience of Hillcrest pupils.

    Thank you.
  • Celebrity Reader

    Wed 27 Jan 2021
What a surprise for Yr 5... today's chapter in their class book, The Boy in the Tower, was read by American actor, comedian and Tik Tok sensation, Michael Judson Berry!

Mr Wilson contacted him on Instagram to ask if he would read and, very kindly, he did!
  • Mindfulness Day

    Fri 22 Jan 2021
    School Councillor Maisie Thorn here,

Me and my amazing mindfulness team of Eliza Folland, Jorja Harrison, Samuel Oakman and Eveie Thomas are organising a Mindfulness Day that people can take part in from home. This will tie in with Children's Mental Health Week, which begins on 1st February.

Now more than ever, mental health support is needed and we want to help. We plan to collect donations for the mental health charity, Mind, using their online platform: https://www.mind.org.uk/

In Yr 6 this week we have been writing instruction leaflets for Mindfulness exercises. We researched a wide range of exercises, from drawing to baking and meditating to breathing. We chose what represents mindfulness to us and want to share our ideas with the whole Hillcrest Community. We have filmed a video to tell the school about the day ahead.

We have lots of plans, including mindful colouring sheets, to download and a specially made yoga video, suitable for all ages.

We'll be telling you more soon so keep an eye on the Hillcrest Social page and look out for our next video on the Mindfulness page under the Pupils tab.

    Best wishes

  • Real PE at Home

    Fri 15 Jan 2021
We are excited to announce that every child will now have access to Jasmine, a digital PE platform that we use in school to deliver fun and effective PE lessons.

Your child's teacher will email or post on Seesaw the username and password for your child to log on to Jasmine. The short video above explains how to do this and how to use this resource.

We know that lots of you have been keeping active and doing a whole host of other things, so this is just one more tool in the chest to encourage your child to stay active. As we all know, physical health is linked to mental health and it is crucial that children are given the opportunity to participate in Physical Education, especially during Lockdown.

Your child's teacher will explain how they would like you to use this resource, it may be on a particular day they ask you to do a certain exercise or theme, or it might be that they ask for evidence of your child using the resource at any point during the week.

The great news is that Jasmine has been tailor-made for parents at home, so it is super simple to use. Here is all the information you need:

Look out for your child's log in details from their teacher.
