  • Sports for Schools Sponsored Workout

    Mon 23 Jan 2023

A HUGE thank you to the athletes from Sports for Schools who came to support our sponsored work out today!

They were particularly impressed by our children's enthusiasm and behaviour.

The children have the rest of the week to find any last minute sponsors. We would like all sponsor money in by Friday 27th, please.

    Of the money we raise:

    • £1 per child will go to Sports for Schools, the social enterprise that runs the programme
    • 40% of the remaining total will go to help GB athletes to compete for our country
    • 60% will go to fund sports equipment at Hillcrest

A big thank you, too, to Mr Barham who organised the event for us.

  • Teachers' Strike

    Tue 17 Jan 2023

    Industrial Action by NEU

After careful consideration of the information currently available to us and a risk assessment of health and safety and safeguarding factors, we have made the decision that the school will be closed on Wednesday 1st February to all children except:

    • Vulnerable children as defined by the DfE and/or identified by our school risk assessment. These families will be contacted next week by the school to confirm their child’s place in school.
    • Children whose parents will be working in the emergency response services or critical care on the day of the strike. Please only contact us next week via the school office if you think this relates to you so that we can confirm their place at school and plan provision for them.

School lunches will be available for children who are eligible to attend school.

Children who are eligible for Pupil Premium but are not eligible for a place in school may collect a packed lunch from school if required. Please contact the school office to arrange this.

Children at home will be able to find information about work on their year group pages, but we do not expect to be able to offer their usual timetable of lessons either in school or remotely.

Future Stars are offering their after-school activities as usual. These can be booked on their website. Children would have to be brought in at 3:25pm and collected at the usual time.

We will keep you updated if we receive further advice or information. For now, we ask you to make arrangements for your children not to attend school on 1st February.
